Northumberland Cycling
Northumberland boasts miles of unspoilt countryside with wondrous nature, some might say there is no better way to explore than joining one of the many cycle routes that this county and its surrounding area has to offer. Why not set off in Alnwick and end up in the most northern town in England, Berwick upon Tweed. On this route you can experience Northumberland’s long stretch of golden sandy beaches. Or you could begin your journey from the West in Haltwhistle and travel East towards Tynemouth, there’s plenty of unspoilt countryside to discover on this fantastic route. Northumberland’s cycle routs are the perfect way to explore the North East at any time of year so there’s nothing stopping you.
ALNWICK – BERWICK CYCLE ROUTE
If you want to explore Northumberland’s coast, then this cycle route is for you. Head from Alnwick up to Berwick upon Tweed by the coast line.
HADRIAN’S WALL CYCLE ROUTE
If you like to cycle and historical/ cultural attractions, then Hadrian’s Wall cycle route is for you. This long distance cycle route is increasingly becoming popular with cyclists and is now the second most popular rote in the country.
KIELDER FOREST CYCLE ROUTE
Kielder Water & Forest offer a couple of interesting cycle routes, although these are not as tough as some routes in Northumberland, there is something for everyone and Kielder is no exeption.
BELLINGHAM – LANGHOLM CYCLE ROUTE
Follow this cycle route through Northumberland’s national park, past the beautiful Kielder forest and dip your toes into Scotland in Langholm. There’s something special about this cycle route for any keen peddling adventurer.
HARWOOD FOREST CYCLE ROUTE
Enjoy a 27 mile cycle route through Harwood Forest, located in Northumberland National Park. On this route you will see the Simonside Hills and head through the peaceful village of Elsdon. This is a perfect route for a traffic free ride.
